The S 605 is the replacement hood for the S 655 Hood Assembly.
Instructions for using the S-605 with the M-300 Series Helmet
The 3M™ Versaflo™ Premium Suspension Hoods (S-605, S-607, S-707, S-805 and S-807) are traditionally used with a replaceable suspension as part of a respiratory protection system.
These hoods may also be used without the suspension as an accessory for the 3M™ Versaflo™ M-300 and M-400 Series headgear to help keep the headgear clean during use.
3M has conducted testing and determined the use of the S-605, S-607, S-707, S-805 and S-807 hoods over the M-300 and M400 Series headgear do not adversely affect the respiratory protection or the head and eye protection offered by the complete M-300 and M-400 Series headgear system. It is important to note that the M-300 must be used with both the visor and face seal installed. The M-400 Series headgear must be used with both the visor and the inner and outer shrouds installed.
To install the hood over the M-300 Series headgear: 1. Ensure that the M-300 Series visor is in the down position. 2. Insert the M-300 Series headgear into the hood by leading with the M-300 Series breathing tube connector and inserting it towards the back of the hood. 3. Pull the air inlet in back of the M-300 Series headgear completely through the small hole in the back of the hood. 4. Pull the visor of the hood over the M-300 Series visor. Note: Use of the hood will prevent the M-300 visor from being lifted open while being worn. 5. Adjust the outer shroud (as well as the inner shroud if using S-607, S-707 or S-807 hood) of the hood such that it lays flat over the neck and shoulders of the user. To don the assembly:
1. With the hood in place over the M-300 Series headgear, don the assembly by pulling it over the head.
2. Leave the outer shroud of the hood draped over the neck and shoulders of the user.
3. If using the S-607, S-707, or S-807 hoods with inner shroud, both the inner and outer shrouds of the hood should lay draped over the neck and shoulders of the user.
4. Read completely and follow the User Instructions for the M-Series Headgear to adjust the headgear suspension and complete system assembly and performance checks.
i IMPORTANT NOTE Removal of the visor or faceseal of the M-300 Series headgear will reduce respirator performance and void the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) approvals.
